In our fast-paced society that we are living in, you often hear working adults saying that they grew horizontally after starting work. They often complain about the lack of time and energy to exercise, and often look back at their teenage body. Is there a way to stay healthy yet maintain your full-time job? Here are 6 tips for you!
- Remove snacks from your desk
Just like the saying goes, out of sight, out of mind! If you remove these snacks from your desk, you probably won’t be tempted or reminded to eat them. Instead, pack some fruits (or get them at the fruit shop) and those can be your afternoon snacks when you’re feeling munch-y.
2. Drink enough water!
If you typically don’t remember to hydrate, there are plenty of water bottles with time stamps on them reminding you to drink water. Typically, a female should be drinking 8 glasses of water, while males 11 glasses. You can also set alarms on your phone/computer to remind yourself to refill your water bottle. Another tip is to bring a huge bottle (1.5L) with you, and make sure you finish it!
- 3. Exercise
There are many ways you can incorporate exercise with work. Instead of taking the car to your lunch destination, if it is near enough, you can opt to walk to lunch instead! However, if you don’t have the time to spare, you can always go for a morning/evening stroll, or even taking the stairs whenever possible as opposed to the lifts or escalators. Little changes such as these will accumulate!
- 4. Sit upright
Having a good posture is so rare these days as everyone is often hunch-backed or tensed up. Sitting upright prevents back pains as well as stiffness at the shoulders. Get a comfortable chair, or make it a habit to change in 2019!
5. Prevent eyestrain
Most office workers tend to use their computers for almost the whole duration of their work, and some even continue looking at their mobile phones/tablets after work. To prevent your eyes from straining, keep the screen at least 1 arm’s length away from you. If you find yourself having a hard time looking at the words on the screen, increase the font size of the words
6. Find ways to destress
Outside of work, find a way to destress! Pick up a new hobby such as sewing, reading, or even cooking!
